I understand the A tier thing. I'm not sure what to do about a date for the WC doubles. Frog might have an idea there. We can't have it before mid April and I personally refuse to try to take traditional dates that long time tourneys have used for years.

There are a ton of tournaments to add still. I'll get to it by the weekend. Definitely hectic. I'll also post the national schedule if it isn't up on the pdga site yet. There's a lot going on behind the scenes. After the schedule was posted, many A tier TDs requested a move and the pdga office is up in arms right now. Kind of funny in way. Also a good problem to have.

I will add to what Greenwood said. If you're thinking about doing a new tournament, try something different and better. I'd actually like to see more specialized tournaments like Juniors only or Masters only. Something that caters to a certain audience instead of all the one size fits all tournaments. Obviously money is the best way to stand out, but there are other ways.

Like an invitational tourney. Based off of PDga player rating rankings. Invite the top 20 open, top 30 am rated above 926, then top 30 rated 925 down.
Adding up scores after league... Greco-"Kerri, you shot 11 up" Kerri- "oh a 65 isn't bad" Greco-"that was the back nine"

Looks to be another watered down tournament schedule in 2013

I've been thinking about this alot lately - and the issue is (I think) that a lot of pros feel that having events every weekend of the year is terrible for the sport. I guess technically it isn't - it's terrible for getting big pro divisions. I mean, if people are going to every event, great! But we're not! Here's my idea.

I think that most of these events should be amateur only! If all the pro players could agree, to say - one, maybe two events monthly - we could increase pro attendance and payouts. Fact of the matter is, there are a lot more ams to support events every weekend, but for good pro fields, we depend on some people coming from Kansas City, Omaha, Lincoln, Twin Cities, etc. We just can't get good fields when there's opportunity to play in a 6 man field C-Tier every weekend. If I knew for sure that the only event in June in Iowa that had pro divisions was the A Tier in Cedar Rapids, guess where I'm going?

More people than ever are playing disc golf. They just aren’t necessarily playing sanctioned events and they definitely aren’t playing MPO. Along with this growth, the popularity of non-sanctioned events has grown. The PDGA uses a whorish model that basically has no limit. They don’t care if an event has 10 or 100 people, they still get paid. There is nothing sacred about a PDGA event.

I don’t think it would be hard to put on a non-sanctioned series in the Midwest, much like Southern Nationals, and have it be very successful. I’d be surprised if it’s not already in the works. The PDGA will continue on their chosen path until they are forced to re-evaluate their model. Until then, they’ll sanction anything.

What? Doesnt take someone that plays a sanctioned tournament or two every weekend to figure out that this is ridiculous.
