Until somebody figures it out, it says the Ice Bowl is on the 28th, it's $20 (as always) for everything including mulligans, and bring a minimum of 10 cans of food.

I'm not trying to be cheap, but just to clarify. I thought it was $15 and 3 cans. ???

Pretty sure you're right, $15 is the entry fee, but that doesn't include ace fund ($2) and mulligans (3 @ $1). It's $20 for everything.

We upped the required can amount this year because most people have been just bringing the bare minimum the last few years. We can't just count on Damon to bring a truckload of stuff every year. We need others to step up. Realize that this event is fun, but don't lose sight that this is a charity event, and the purpose of it is to help out others that can't even think about having fun, because they have to worry about how they're going to feed their family every day. So please, bring as much food as you can afford.

Also, we will be having a chili contest again this year. Bring a crockpot of your favorite chili to share with the players at lunch and if it pleases the judges senses enough, you might win something.

We also have some sweet Ice Bowl merchandise we will be selling in the pavilion during registration. Hoodies, long sleeve tees, beanies, and plenty of Ice Bowl stamped discs. Come check out this year's logo and support the Des Moines Disc Golf Club.

See everybody on January 28th!

Hey Jay, what if you don't want any mulligans? I just cannot play that way. I don't mind going up against others who do, I just don't want to put that thought in my mind. Drrr...I know, but it works for me, lol... As far as the cans go, I'm down for charity, but there is no use competing with Damon, lol...

If it doesen't snow, we play longs in current positions? If it does snow, same layout as always? I just remember talking to Beery and he had mentioned some positions are unable to be moved due to collars or locks.

I missed out last year, but I am definetly in for this year and can help out with the course if needed. Right now I am only a student, so I can get up to GV and help on nights and weekends.

Ace fund and Mulligans are always optional, as is the side action.

yep what Tyler said, they're optional. The bare minimum cost is $15 and 10 cans.

As far as the course goes, we discussed this at the meeting last night. There are some bunk collars that need replaced, but we're going to try and get the course shortened up as much and wherever possible. We do this mainly because of the number of people that come to this event. We also have plans to add as many as 5 temporary holes the day of the event, so that nobody will have to be turned away.

Also, don't forget to bring extra cash, or your checkbook, so you can renew your PDGA membership through the Des Moines Disc Golf Club at a $5 discount.

Good luck with that. Ive been trying to get him to bring some cornbread to the poker games for awhile. If Jay isn't up to it, I could call Woody's Smoke Shack to see if they would cut us a deal on some trays of theirs. Shits delicious...

Ice Bowl

Postby DLCdisc » Fri Jan 13, 2012 12:10 pm

Hey gang,

As far as the canned food goes, please do not let what I do deter you from going after it. I have support each year and I am doing it for the cause (NOT THE BASKET). Here is the deal -- if I bring as many cans as I have the last few years and the next closest person only brings 50, I am taking the prize. However, if someone steps up with some real effort and brings a few hundred cans, I will gladly concede the prize. Its there for the taking and the cause is great. Not to mention, it would be cool to make the magazine for a change. The money and cans gets bigger and bigger each year but we still get snubbed. Clue who did you piss off   ? Kidding! Can't wait -- see you there.

Later,
Damon

Alltoff and his famous chili along with last years winners are out this year. The chili cook off is up for grabs. Let me know if you plan on making a pot full. Thanks!!!

Look for some free coffee and muffins while it lasts in the morning....

Anyone helping to run this can also put in an order and I can bring them anything special they would like from the shop.
