1 round Tournament at Credit Island - Sunday, October 30th

Postby Lou Siffer » Fri Sep 23, 2011 12:03 pm

The City of Davenport will be holding an unsanctioned 1 round tourney at Credit Island on Sunday, October 30th.

What I know as of today, is there will be at least 3 divisions, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced (possibly Pro) with a $15 entry fee for each.

I'll post more when I have more solid information.

More details on this grand opening event:
Parks & Rec will have the lodge open; registration and vendors inside. FULL concessions provided (just like a clubhouse) with food, soda, and beer for sale. Rumor that they will have the beverage cart out on the course as well. (Bring your ID's).

Come on out for this fun, social event. We don't have many events where all of us in the sport can get together and just have some good times. I hope to see all of the old schoolers there! And this is a perfect time for newbies to learn tournament golf and catch some pointers from Sprague at the clinic.

Davenport has put a lot of time, effort and grant money into this course, so let's show them we appreciate their dedication to the fastest growing sport on the planet! Be sure to tell Sarah Harris w/ the rec. dept. thanks for thinking of us! And thank Sprague, MDR, and others for their time in course design. It turned out great!

Oh wait, I guess I was gonna be there anyway.

Want to give a quick shout out to Chris Sprague, Tracey Lopez, K. C. Randall, Dan Swords, and Sarah Harris from the City of Davenport for helping put this event on today.

Special thanks to Chris, Tracey, and Sarah for meeting and planning leading up to the event.

And to all that helped make this course a reality over the past three years, Chris Sprague, Mike Robinson, Alex Oerhlein, Evan Qualls, Ron Rasmussen, Gene Mattechek, Paul Eichoff from the City of Davenport, the Davenport Parks Department, and anyone else that helped out that I've forgotten (I apologize).

We had 50 people show up today, which was about 20 more than I'd predicted, in spite of the raw weather. Thanks to all that toughed it out and showed up to help christen the Quad Cities newest course.
