North Iowa is planning to bring a team again! We wouldn't mind Forest City at all if you wanted to bring it to our backyard! lol

I'm not sure, but I remember Newton being one of the courses that was being considered. Jay?

8 man teams, doubles best shot & quad alternate shot. Teams divided up however the captains feel. No ratings cap

9 man teams, triples alternate, 1 pro, 1 adv, 1 int. sssssssss. with a ratings cap, or use pdga ratings, like pro=970 above, adv 935-969, int 934 and under( the lineup could change every hole, or even leave it as it is thru out)

I find the one on one match play FUN, but it doesnt really have any bearing on the TEAM aspect, IMO

Back in the day there was a lot better scenery.
Kind of a sausage fest now.
We had more fun when teams had a person from each division , too serious now.

I can't say much about the round formats because I've never played in this before. Nor will I this year, it will be hard enough to even get 4 people to go to legion which is only an hour away from dubuque.

But as the overall format I would like to say a couple of things. I personally am not sure if there is a reason for a 1 day event but this type of thing should be 2 days imo. It gives you plenty of time to set up all the events and rounds that you need. Plus half the fun of these things is all the trash talking and partying that goes on. With a 2 day event you can have a players party the first night. Then you get to play fun team games like flippy cup. You can even do things like have a party winner, so even if your team doesn't win the event you can say you won the party.

I also think that as for a team rating cap and what not you either go one of two ways. 1) no limit and see what city has the best possible players. 2) have multiple brackets like 8 man team: 2 970+ 2 950-970 2 930-950 and 2 0-930. This means its about who has the most well balanced team and what city has each of the best in their respective division.

@stover I completely agree with you on the two days. The difficult part is that I'm afraid making it two days will severely handicap the turnout. It would be a giant leap of faith to pull that off, as I feel a lot of people will then not come. But trust me, it's been discussed many times and shot down. The problem is there are too many other tournaments in the state of Iowa that players feel are more important, there's not a lot of money at stake, it's not sanctioned, etc.

I think eventually if we can grow the popularity of the event maybe we can get it to that, kinda like the Texas Teams. In Texas, I believe that is one of the most important events to the players down there. Not that it's not that important here, I just don't think there's 72 players on board for a full weekend of it.

Thanks for the post.

Correct on the first point.

Texas also has a butt-load more players with dispensable time.

Alternate shot sounds alot more fun than last year. Last year felt like a very intense, very un-team tournament. As for two days, I agree you would have less players/teams. Otherwise, rock it out...this is gonna be fun!
The finial... Even with no clouds!

I like this. What about 6 man teams, no limit on how many teams a city can bring...Every city could fill a team of their top talent, and then still have room for the rest of us. With 6 man teams, doubles best shot and triples alternate. Nobody would be excluded as long as they can field a full team. Would work best with an even number of teams, but if we had an odd number, it wouldnt be that difficult to not play one team in dubs, then play them in trips, for example....
