Hole 19 is money. Another birdie opportunity, but it is a challenging shot. More bang for the buck IMO. Worrying about people not being able to add up to 57 or whatever is not really a good excuse. It's there, it's a good hole, might as well use it.

Anyone who can’t remember what par is to add the card up shouldn’t be adding up the card.

If it's a good hole and all the locals play it we should play it.

But it sounds like Tanner likes the pros playing west lake twice. We may have to change it now. You know how we hate to make Tanner happy. ha ha. Just kidding, brother.

Unless I'm mistaken, which is highly likely, folks should be putting total number of strokes on their cards, anyway. Not +20 (my usual score) or whatever.

That's true Lou, but that's what messes people up. They add up the plusses and minuses, and then work off of the usual 54 number. On a par 57 course, +20 is 77 not 74, so I would issue two penalty strokes to your card.

you could always add par = 57 above the total strokes column. If they still get it wrong, Audrey II said it best.."Tough titty."
If she can't swim....she's bound to drizzown.

Audrey II. That's classic Mike. "Feed me, Seymour!"

If the hole is added, it will be noted on the scorecard and every other place imaginable.

Isn't that an Eric Clapton song? "Sack up Sally, and rest here in my arms..." wait... maybe not.

I can speak from experience on the odd hole addition. At legion we have 20 holes and a regular 18 on the back. I put par at the top and bottom of the cards. Doesn't matter people only add birdie, bogie and not the whole scorecard. Plus there are as many misadded on the regular 18. You can even mention it at the meeting and someone will still miss it. I don't think ability to add should stop whether you add a hole or two.

Is there somewhere on the course where you could combine two holes to make a good par 4 or 5? This would allow you to use 19 and still have an 18 hole total.

BTW, stupid people should be penalized so having a par 57 course is fine with me.

How about combining 13 & 14? That'd be fun, wouldn't it?

Here would be some fun "tweeks" for Eastern:
- Make hole 1 on the other side of the creek, basically making that hole another 300 ft. longer.
- Make hole 7 from the longs. That will change scores a ton.
- Make hole 10 go WAY past the current basket. There is an odd hill about 350 ft. past the parking lot, pretty close to the railroad tracks, where a GREAT basket could sit atop. That'd be NASTY, cuz you could make the parking lot OB, and keep mando lines on the right side of the pine tree (so you don't interupt #11)
- Make hole 15 from the longs, much cooler hole.
- Make hole 16 from the longs, which is the best hole on the course from the long position.
- Play number 19, cuz you just should!

Play from 2's pad to 3's basket. 7's pad to 8's basket? Anyway, I'm down with 19 from the longs
opulence, I has it.
