Deerwood course - Evansdale

Postby kinch » Tue Apr 01, 2014 3:28 pm

The ground is still soft but spring course work can soon begin. We need to form up tee pads on the short tee locations. I have spoke with some about 2x4 forms, anyone who has more to provide - please let me know. We are looking to build typical 3'-6" x 12' pads. Most pads will be placed in the same location as before. #5 pad may be adjusted a bit. Also looking at moving #1 short & long up a bit. #1 long is basically unplayable during league.
Look for more postings soon regarding work days. Please pass this message along to other outlets (facebook / twitter).

Probably going to have to put some gravel down on 16. I wouldn't think that all that sans would be a good base for a concrete slab!

Weather has not cooperated much lately, but we will have work days next week to start setting tee pad forms at Deerwood on Tuesday and Wed. night (4/29, 4/30). Bring a shovel and a hammer, leave the discs in the car until work is done. We will pour 9 pads, then strip and set up the other 9. Rain day makeup will be Thursday, if needed. Hope to pour 1st 9 pads on May 6th or 7th.

We are still planning on working Tue & Wed. unless rain is overwhelming. Yes, #13 will move to the left of the existing location. Also worried about #14 tee being in a low area. Not sure if there are any other options for 14.

That 13 placement looks nice. 14 just kinda stuck with it.

Big thanks to 6 workers on Tue. night. We need more shovels and wheel barrels. All forms for front 9 are on site. We got a good start, but still need a lot of help getting forms set.

We will discuss Deerwood pad schedule tonight at Week one of Summer League at Tourist Park in C.F. I'll try to stop out and see what else needs to be done with formwork yet today. Tee off tonight at 6:00 pm sharp. Be there early to get your team signed up. We max out at 16 teams.

I will be out working on setting and leveling tee pad forms tonight. If everything gets done we could pour pads on Wed. evening, weather permitting. I also need commitment from those who have experience with concrete work to be available on Wed. I will check with Manatts Concrete and renting a buggy for placement.
Please forward this on to other media sources.
Please call or text me if you can be there on Wed. (319) 239-5611

Didn't get much done last night.
Sorry for the late posting, but I will be out digging & setting forms again tonight. If we have enough help, we may work on #13 & 14 new tee locations. Some clearing and grade work needs to be done.
Looking at Saturday afternoon for front 9 concrete.
