*$%#@!!

Is the concrete anchor & all gone?
Seeing no other posts today, I will contact Wloo Leisure Services and report the probable theft.
That would be the 2nd such theft of a basket from a course in our area in the past month.

never heard of it :D but in all seriousness, was it close to the bike trail or what? seems to me that would be a haul out of the woods either way.

Last time I lived in the Cedar Valley Tourist was in Cedar Falls

Kidding aside I hope the issue is resolved and you get the basket back or replaced soon.

Sorry, my bad. In that case, someone from CF needs to contact the park & rec. I don't deal with CF since they destroyed that park 10 years ago. ... aka - "Sturgis Falls"

I'll get a hold of the CF parks dept. Kinch you will be happy to hear that there will no longer be any sturgis falls activities (course raping) held at tourist in the future, they are moving those events to Gateway park. So now maybe we can revamp Tourist (Tee signs, trees trash cans etc.) and then focus on Cedar City park at Big Woods. We'll schedule a league meeting after I get a chance to talk to Mark Ripplinger at the parks dept.

Tourist needs work for sure. It still gets use, but not like it used to. I agree we need to preserve this historical site - (3rd course ever designed)
Est. 1976 I think ?? I would be willing to layout-design new tee signs on CAD ... 'IF' we can get city support for the future of this course. Then, I agree we can shift efforts to Cedar City. Without city support, a new course will fall into the same condition Tourist is now.

The last time I talked with the Parks Dept. they indicated that they were willing to support the revitalization of the course as well as the upkeep. There may also be some city money to put towards this and the Cedar City project.
I'll let you know more after I meet with Mark

would it even be worth trying to plant some trees at tourist? I know the chuckers would break them nevermind.

I was talking to a leaguer in Davenport and the word was that the city gave them 20,000$ to put signs, pads and get sponsors for the courses there. Not happening here....but very sweet nonetheless.

BHMDGL has far too much $ in our bank acct. than what was ever intended. We need to spend our acct. down on old/new course improvements before we go looking for more. --just say'n -- Also ... We did get $5000 from the Waterloo Exchange Club in 2008 & spent it all on Exchange Park.

However, looking for added $ for a tournament is great and will draw players to that event.

As far as trees and vandalism in CF, It's hard to stop a-holes from breaking branches & killing trees. We just have to keep planting & hope some grow large enough before they get damaged. Giving up is not the answer. I quit caring about Tourist 10 years ago, and look at it now compared to our other courses. If Sturgis Falls is really gone, it gives me hope and a renewed interest in needed improvements there.

would be nice to see a plaque or somthing that explains the historical value of tourist with information on what has taken place their over the years. The city might be willing to help with that in some form. Anyways set a league meeting so we can bring some of these ideas to life, summers flying by.
