The only problem I see is being in Tourist on June 28, 1 day after the Sturgis Falls celebration/drunkfest wraps up. If past history is any indication, the course will not be ready to play on that date so we may need to make an adjustment to the schedule. Other than that, I like the equal weighting of course over the season.

Speed of Play: League Nights

Postby THRO2NV » Tue May 18, 2010 2:44 pm

Everyone in league need to make an effort to speed up play. Three weeks into the season many teams have finished in the dark all three nights.

We played fast on Monday not waiting for groups (fortunately) except on the last hole. Our group was done at 8:35. The next group came in ten minutes later. The last group was well over a half hour after us.

People spend too much time screwing around. When it is your turn, be ready to throw. 36 holes at the old Waterloo course was 20 strokes more for most people and we didn't have problems finishing before dark.

When I play through your group this season don't be offended.

throw2nv just dont dont bring speakers for that clay aiken in ur Ipod my putt is weak enough already!! but on a more serious note i agree with that totally. if you cant get efficient play were in for some dark ones and i dont need another excuse to miss a putt.

Lengthen all of the holes on the course, narrow the fairways with OBs because of the bike trail, and make me walk to Hole 15 to start (hey, I'm not even close to the tee before I hear the start signal) and you wonder why I finish in the dark? I'm not so sure it's slow play as much as it's I can't throw 350-400 feet like you younger guys. For every 700+ foot hole that takes you 4 strokes, it takes me 6 or 7 throws and that is just going to take me (and others) more time. I'm all for championship courses but when you throw in the design features of Exchange and Deerwood, they are going to take more time for your non-tournament caliber players to complete during League night. I don't like spending time looking for my disc (or others in my group) in the dark when I'm finishing my round either but unless we start earlier (not an option for most of us) or play fewer holes, this will remain a problem. I apologize if I have held anyone up but I'm trying as hard as I can to play quickly. PS, this is not anything against you Jason, just my comments about course design and how it's affected League play.

Maybe we can find you a designated driver Dave  Or better yet maybe league should spring for some golf carts (dune Buggy style would be sweet!)
But seriously although I'm not a fan of waiting on every tee and finishing in the dark. I play league to have a good time with pallers and throw disc. Plus most of my casual rounds are at night (after momma and the munchkin are asleep) So it doesn't bother me much. However if I am playing bad, don't doubt that I will blame it on the group in front of us for playing too slow, even if they are 4 holes ahead of us. Giggity.
Either way darkness won't be a problem again until near the end of league.

If you saw me limping around last night (strained Medial Collateral Ligament of the right knee due to a hockey injury last season) you know I would welcome either a designated driver and/or a golf cart! I agree with you Lee, I'm there for my relationships with all of my old friends and to make new ones. Bonus, last night it was still light out when we finished our round!

Thanks to Kindsh for the very well done weed wackn job at Deerwood. Some ninjas left out their to be sliced up yet but all in time. Nice shooting Throw2nv 4 under at deerwood is a nice round for anyone. And nice to see a new face Jeremy Prouty played as a sub with us and did pretty well and was enjoyable to have on board.

Not sure if tourist will be playable by Monday night (7/5/10). Back up plan is Exchange. Then back to back weeks at Tourist (7/12 and 7/19) this should get us back on track. I will check Tourist this Sunday to see if it is playable, then post here. For now the best bet would be to plan on playing Exchange this Monday. Spread the word to your teammates and pals!

Yep tourist is back in, however some of the baskets need some attention. Anyone who can make it down early on Monday to help tidy them up would be great. I have to work till 4ish but will try to get out there as soon as possible. We may need to use a portable for 17 not sure yet.
Either way we are playing Tourist this Monday.
