Dann Schultz Memorial Snow Disc Tournament

Do not forget that Snow Disc is coming to Tourist Park on Feb 13. It would be real helpful if some folks would take it apone themselves to move some snow. I guess you could wait for the phone to ring but then you would have to get your ass off the couch.

All the pads have been clean for awhile now. There maybe some to move from the shelter and thats about it. The parking lot is a reck but not sure what to do about that.

Try calling the city parks department and see if they can plow it out for you.

Just a reminder, the 25th Dann Schultz Memorial Snow Disc Tournament is the ORIGINAL northern tier winter tournament now celebrating its Silver Anniversary this year. Just so you know, the BHMDGL is honoring one of its charter members that is no longer with us and all of the proceeds are split between the American Cancer Society and the Cedar Valley Hospice Home. So come join us for a couple of rounds of golf, donate your $10 (or more, we're happy to add to the donations) and have a great time on the country's 3rd disc golf course with a tradition that spans 25 years on February 13! Last year we donated $1000, it would be great if we could top that this year. Hope to see you (and all of your friends) there!

For Sure! And having the large buket of salt at tournament central and asking every card to take out salt to each hole was a really good idea.

This is the letter I read at League last night but not all heard it and it was suggested that I post it (thanks Brock). It is from the Cedar Valley Hospice.

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the patients and families we serve, thank you to the Black Hawk Metro Disc Golf League for the gift of $500.00 in memory of Dann Schultz.

This generosity allows Cedar Valley Hospice to remain an independent, not-for-profit organization welcoming all members of our community regardless of financial means.

Our mission is to provide the leadership and set the standard for excellence in delivering comprehensive palliative and end-of-life care to patients, and services to those who grieve.

With your support, we are committed to Making Each Moment Matter for anyone in need of our services throughout Northeast Iowa.

Most gratefully,
Marvin Fagerlind, LISW
Executive Director

(Handwritten at the bottom of the letter):
It is very special to have your support. It is a privilege to serve those who are terminally ill and those who grieve. Through this gift, you all are making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

********************
I also announced that the BHMDGL is one of the major sponsors through our donation of the American Cancer Society Walk for Life being held at Hawkeye Community College next month. The League's name will be on the participant's t-shirts for this important fundraising event.

********************

Thank you to everyone who played or donated to our charitable event that honors one of our own. I'm very proud to be associated with such compassionate people and I'm sure Dann is looking down with pride as well.
