They want High school/ college players, playing instead? What happens when the High school kid gets injured and cant get a ride into college? Same thing with a college player not getting signed into the NBA...Put a fvckin clause in their contract about these issues if its such a big deal.
Interesting perspective that I hadn't thought of. NBA superstars have already made millions, so they can weather the storm of a career-altering injury better than a young prodigy who has yet to sign a contract.
If I were an owner I'd push hard to have a clause in the contract that protects the team's investment. Not sure where that line is drawn, but I'd say the Olympics is too risky. What about guys like Steve Nash that play soccer in the off-season that makes him who he is? You could argue playing for the Olympic team also gains a competitive advantage experience-wise.
