You don't think he'll learn a thing or two? and if he does get the start after a couple years of filling in, 2nd team workouts, playbook analysis, etc. and DOES suck? You'll be all the better for it. They'll be right in time to draft #1 QB Prospect James Vandenburg, coming off a Rose Bowl Victory MVP.
I respect your stance, but my main issue is that enough is enough with these chucking short term solutions. We've had a stop-gab QB ever since Tommy Kramer. Culpepper was the closest thing we've had since then as a QB to call our own. Your statement of "sit for 2 years then play, if he sucks draft another one" could only prolong this dilemma for us Vikings fans. I'd rather find out sooner than later if he's got the chops or not and then move on if we have to. Sure I want to give him a chance to develop but I also don't want to prolong going through this again, and again, and again, and again, if he wasn't the one.
Long story short. I'll get over it and support D-Bag because he is/will be a Viking (gotta support your team). However I'd really like to see Ponder show that the job is his and earn the #1 spot over McNabb soon than later (like sometime this season).
