Tyson Gay just ran the 3rd fastest time in 100 m history and got dominated by Bolt. Bolt 9.58 and Gay 9.71

I just watched this, here is a link while it lasts.

Bolt is amazing and possibly still getting better, I feel bad for Gay he would be the most celebrated American Track Star since Micheal Johnson if Bolt didn't exist.
Is this the line for the beer, or the line for the coupons for the beer?

I think his best race could be the 400. He could prob break 42.

I wonder if he's tried that race. It seems he's got the stride for it.

Excerpt:

"I would say in the next decade, it wouldn't surprise me if [the 100-meter record] goes below 9 seconds," professor Peter Weyand, a physiologist at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, tells NPR's Melissa Block. "It could go faster than that — and it probably will."

Weyand, who specializes in the biomechanics of running, says the body's speed depends on how fast the muscles are able to "turn on."

"And we know biologically we're not anywhere close to that limit," Weyand says.

I saw an article yesterday projecting him @ a 3.73 40... I call BS, but bet he's probably close to 4 in reality.

The splits for his 100m are available:
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_ua8ycqfc4ok/S ... /Table.gif

He ran the first 40m in 4.64, which I figured to a 40yd in 4.25 plus or minus (it's not an exact conversion, due to his acceleration). He doesn't reach top speed until probably 60m or 70m.

These guys take a while to get up to top speed. It is unclear whether he could run a markedly faster 40yd if he wanted to. Search for [Bolt splits] for tons of articles and speculation.

By the way, the 19.19 is totally stupid. Look at the fastest times ever:
http://www.alltime-athletics.com/m_200ok.htm

After Bolt and Johnson (19.19, 19.30, 19.32), the fastest ever (EVER!) is 19.58 by Tyson Gay. Johnson's 2nd fastest EVER was 19.66. I mean 19.32 was STUPID FAST. 19.19 is not real.

His marathon would be an hour and small change.
