Saint's Championship Offseason Overview

Well unfortunately it looks like we missed on Ron Bartell coming over from St. Louis. I really wanted the void for a good Corner to be filled in Free Agency but it doesn't look like this is going to happen.

This doesn't necessarily work out poorly though. This is going to give us enough wiggle room to probably pick up both Darren Sharper and Gerald Sensebaugh to give us some much needed talent and depth at FS.

Sharper, even though he is on the back end of his career, is still a ball hawk and a great leader on and off the field. Sensebaugh has potential to be one of the better Free Safeties in the game with a few years of good work. That won't be hard to get under Gregg Williams defensive scheme.

The best part of this is that the Saints are potentially going to look to fill the most glaring need of Cornerback with our #14 pick. More than likely this is going to be Vonte Davis but if Malcolm Jenkins is still on the table by the 14th (a big "if") we'll go there.

This means we will probably be looking to add a power Tailback with our 3rd rounder. Dependant upon what's on the table I would say there is a high probability that we will look at Shonn Greene. He fits our system overall and he won't have to worry much about a complicated playbook.

That's it for now. I'm sure you all know that with the re-signing of Jonathan Vilma and Jon Stinchcomb as well as the addition of Gregg Williams at D Coordinator we are going to make a serious run in '09. If our defense is only half as bad as it was last year Drew Brees is going to be the only QB worth a shit in a fantasy league.

I'll keep you updated as the info comes down.

What a wonderful time to revisit this gem of a thread.

I'd say I've come out pretty well on most of these predictions thus far.

I'm sure we all agree that this is the biggest game in NFL history. After the game is over and New Orleans leaves 40+ points on the board (quote me on that) and we're 5-0 ya'll better Chuckin recognize.

This game has the revenge factor, and i'm not talking about Shockey. Sean Payton had the play calling duties taken away from him in NY and then was fired during the seas
on by Fossell. They should do a where are they now segment on ole coach.

no, just 90% of them.

It's really unreal. I thought we'd lost that game. I knew they were going to focus on pressure and leave man to man, I figured Drew would turn it over (not 3 f'n times) at some point.

I'm just used to those being the types of games we lose. Badly. This year it's different.

Also, Darren Sharper is a Chucking madman. Technically that was his 4th pick six and 8th on the year. He had one called back because of a roughing the passer flag.
