Hall of Fame vs. Hall of Shame

Postby mattmelcher » Tue Feb 10, 2009 1:43 pm

Now that A-Rod has switched teams, the Hall of Shame team is getting to be pretty stong. If we take the Hall of Shame and place them in a one game Series against the Hall of Fame…who wins?

The HoS qualifications: Be banned from baseball, named in the Mitchell report, confess to taking steroids, be called to testify in front of Congress and claim you don’t want to talk about the past. The HoF qualifications: Be in the Baseball Hall of Fame, be a sure thing Hall of Fame member when you become eligible in 5 years, and you must have been an active player in the last 35 years that I have been watching baseball. Also, I did not go by position or line-up and have 2 bench players (I was at work doing this during my break and didn't have much time to research). I have 2 pitchers per team. Feel free to make you own lineup as you see fit.

Hall of Fame:
Reggie Jackson
Dave Winfield
Hank Aaron
Robin Yount
Rod Carew
Ryne Sandberg
George Brett
Rickey Henderson
Johnny Bench
Tony Gwynn
Cal Ripkin
Greg Maddux
Steve Carlton

Hall of Shame:
Pete Rose
Mark McGwire
Rafeal Palmiero
Alex Rodriguez
Jason Giambi
Gary Sheffield
Ken Caminiti
Mo Vaughan
Chuck Knobloch
Todd Hundley
Roger Clemons
Andy Pettite

I don't see Caminiti making too big of a contribution to the series.

I'd take the Hall of Famers in 5.

pete rose should be in the hall of fame. ban him from baseball if you want, but the guy was the greatest hitter of all time.

"This guy here is dead."

"Then cross him off the list."

Oh yeah, HoFs sweep.

Some of the guys left off HoF list Id start:

Ty Cobb ( Best hitter ever. took Rose more games and he had to be a part time player to get it done. Hit King my ass.)

Roberto Clemente
Babe Ruth
The Mick
Nolan Ryan
Sandy Koufax

Speaking of turds, how about Roberto Alomar? He could be worse than any of them, and Im sure there are some players out there regrettting sharing needles with him.
