2011 Course Work

Postby Budhyzer 17696 » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:45 pm

With the gate opening up soon, it'll be time to get the gloves and assorted toys out for another year.
This year we plan on focusing a lot of time and effort on step improvements mainly on #8, but #9, #13 and #14 will see improvements/additions. After that, we're going to do some more steps. And, after that if we have time, maybe some more steps.
The A pads on #5, 7 and 9 will be extended by a couple blocks to 10.5' and #2 will be updated also. Crager and I have rigged up a pressure washer system we can pull behind the 4 wheeler to clean up all the pads too.
I plan on doing another block retaining wall project sometime too but am not sure exactly where yet, got a couple ideas though. And, who knows, there may be a couple three new C pin placements and maybe even a B pad on the back nine somewhere.

Always something to do but it's considered a labor of love and keeps us old guys from getting older.

Steve has reworked the steps from hole 7 up to hole 8. They are much more even, with new timber border on the left side and fresh mulch. Soooo much easier to get up now for us old guys. Thanks Steve!

Also, a couple of repairs have been done on some signage, damn kids.

We'll be hitting it hard shortly, May 15th the ban on the four wheeler gets lifted as hunting season will be over. Mulch, step and tee pad work will hit full stride.

Great day for some course work!
Added two rows of blocks to #5A and #7A pads making them 10.5' long now.
Hole 3 is weed whacked and #2 pad has been made regulation 4' x 12' too.

We've got a challenge for young master Stiers. Since he's been on a roll with benches at Leigon, we thought he might want to become an honorary crew member and put in a bench on one of the remaining holes that needs one. Hole B needs a bench and I'm sure he would want to know how we did things in the beginning without the 4 wheeler. Any time you want Abe, it's all yours.

The front is weed whacked thru #5. 8 is done past the bridge and 9 also. Enjoy! Oh! I moved a few baskets longer.

I would be honored to help anyway I can as you guys are the pinnacle of what it means to give back to the sport we all love.
Sounds like a challenge. I'm game. My only hold up would be getting out there anytime soon as I have a lot of crap to do this month and not sure when I could get to it. How bout this...

I can build a few for you guys and y'all can take them up there and install them when you get time? Legs and all. All you would need is a PHD/shovel and a cordless drill/10r so screws.

Sound like a deal?

You know, I really wanted to see you 2 wheel that bench up to hole B .... but we may be able to work something out.

We need three more benches, one for 5B, 7B and hole B.
If your game and want to build them, I'm sure Btchn will do the install.
I can pick them up whenever, let me know bra. Thanks!

Commissioning of 3 benches commenced.

Ill b out of town the week of june 10-17th, I'll try 2 get them done before that but we'll see.

Do you want the "keep our park clean" stencil, or would you prefer them blank?

Sure, that's a nice touch. And don't worry about the timeframe, whenever you get to them is fine. Thanks again, much appreciated!

The enormus mulch piles are finally gone. Most of the tee pads, some trails and a few pin positions on the course have a brand new coating of mulch. Some fine tune spreading needs to be done in a couple areas but at least it is where it needs to be.

Big thanks to Crager and his fourwheeler for getting this accomplished! I don't know what we'd do without you. :D

6 weeks until the WBO; that should be enough time to clear or burn the worst of the brush piles. We should be in pretty good shape for the tourney. Hope to see everyone on October 15th!
