I've never been to any of the places, so I'm IN pending dates. With Highbridge being the furthest away and most courses I feel is best choice.
A bad day at disc golf is still better than a good day at anything else.... Unless its also disc golf

Tis True .....

Here's my reasoning for voting for Vichy, and its just my reasoning for me, this is not to sway anyone.

- Course conditions and playability at Highbridge are spotty at best. The property is massive and just too much for one guy to take care of. I see a lot of reviews that state high grass and a lot of searching, then the next saying that one or two were mowed and others not, and a very slim few with all being mowed. Well if I'm travelling 7 hours to play some mecca or complex I want it to be in ideal conditions (mowed and every course open). And yes I'm very pretentious and spoiled, I live in Iowa and 90% of our courses are very will kept and mowed all the time, so I come to expect a high level of care and maintenance if they are going to be so highly rated.

- Now you might be saying, wait a minute Vichy has 3 courses maintained by one guy on private land, how's that going to be different. Well Vichy isn't maintained all year. So he can put all his resources and time into mowing and pruning for these events. I've been once and was pleasantly surprised at how well they were mowed and groomed for only being open twice a year. I know what I'm getting into here.

- This leads me to my next point. Vichy is only open twice a year so it's kind of a treat to go down and experience, not many have played there. Highbridge is open all summer so in thoery you can go play it anytime.

- The amenities at both are minimalistic; Highbridge has the Honka house which I have yet to hear a good thing about, however they also have camping with some rustic bathrooms and showers. Vichy has none of this, its straight up backwoods camping. So really I don't care about this part of it, both are minimalistic places in BFE.

- Vivhy is 2 hours closer to DM and also south to potentially warmer weather.

- While I'd love to go to Highbridge, a complex 7 hours a way and of that size kind of calls for a 4 to 6 day trip, not an extended weekend excursion.

- The biggest pro of Highbridge for some is the fact that its simply a get away; you can go and play whatever course, as often as you want, when ever you want, and as many as you want each day. Vichy is a tournament. So while its free camping there is an entry fee and you have to be confined to playing courses and order of tournament play while the tournament is going on. Plus with the tournament you have to deal with it being run by Dave Mac. I have no beef with him, however many do.

So bottom line I chose Vichy because I know what the course conditions will be and know what the amenities will be (no let down from high expectations), get to play in a tournament while playing kick ass courses, shorter drive time, south of Iowa = warmer weather, and better value on paper - Highbridge = $45 for 3 days golf, camping, showers, and crappers; Vichy = $50 - $30 for 3 days of golf, No amenities, players pack and payout.

I just spoke with a buddy of mine that gets over to Highbridge a couple of times a year and he said that Highbridge is becoming a bit run down. Sounds like the fairways are decent but the grass is super high off of them.
