Pin Positions

Postby Hamer » Tue Oct 04, 2011 11:04 pm

Most of the holes had been in the same positions since April. We tried to move as many as possible for the tournament. Hole 9 had been in the long position since October of 2010. Whether you like long locations or not, that is way too long to not move a basket. Holes 2, 3 and 4 need moved now because they have been there since April. Hole 12 and 13 should go long now and 15 should go back over by the river for a while.

As fas a winter locations go, they will be going back to the short pin locations. The Ice Bowl is in February and if the baskets do not get moved before winter, the ground is too frozen to move them in February. We have until sometime in November before we will move them back to the short locations.

Sorry Kollin, 18 will definitely be going back short pin location before winter. That long pin gets no sunshine and is almost impossible to move once it freezes.

Turkey Creek is not a viable option in the winter because the tee pads do not clean up as well as the ones at Peninsula. The trees and the terrain out there do not allow for the proper sunshine and melting that is needed to keep them looking great.

PWe can cross that bridge when we get there. A shovel and a torch would make moving baskets easy as long as the prep work is done now (digging out the locks so they are not under frozen dirt, they shouldn't be anyway). Tempted to put up a pole on here because it seems people like the pen more when it shows its teeth.

Sweet! :D

I am happy that we have a lot of people that are willing to help move the baskets. Like Jeff Harper says, with two sets of tee pads and two sets of baskets we have 72 potential holes to work with on the course. No basket will ever sit in the same location for a year again at Peninsula.

Stay tuned everyone, Jim and I have some new and exciting things in the works at Peninsula.

Get out and play the course!

I like a mix for optimal fun. A few confidence builders and a few killers.

Haven't played 13 to the long pin since pre-flood.

YES!! We have not had 6,10,13,18 in the long for quite a while and it would be nice to have them in those positions for an extended period.

Whether there is snow or not, par4 holes make golf more fun. For those who prefer it, par3 golf is already available at LOTS of other courses. :?

It is a BLAST to play holes 6 and 10 in the long again! Took several drives on those today! Can't wait to get a few tries on 13 long, the 2nd shot there used to be so fun back in 2007-08! :D

I moved the baskets back to their short locations for the winter. I'm really glad to have not frozen off any appendages in the process. Low scores are out there.

Yesterday I sure missed having holes 6, 10, 13 and 18 in the long! Guess I can still play object golf on the red posts.

We with we being Jason Allen Stroud and Andy Hamer moved ten of the baskets today.
The holes that we moved were 1,2,4,7,9,10,12,14,15,18.
There is a large tree down on six that will need to be cleared out before six can be moved to the long pin location.
Everybody go have a lot of fun out there.

The current layout is:
1-B-Long
2-B-Long
3-B-Short
4-B-Short
5-A-Short
6-B-Short
7-A-Long
8-A-Short
9-A-Long
10-B-Long
11-A-Short
12-A-Long
13-B-Short
14-B-Long
15-B-Short
16-A-Long
17-B-Short
18-B-Long

15 next to the river or did someone move the anchor? Sounds like a good layout right now, 6 long would be icing on that cake...if someone wants to loan me a chainsaw I wouldn't mind cleaning that up.

I am with you on that one Jim.

If somebody has a chainsaw, please let Jim or I borrow it and we will get it cut up and moved and then we will move the six basket to the long pin position.

Hole fifteen is over by the river now.

It had been a while since it had been over there and since there is no flooding in the near future it seemed like a good time to move it over there.

Hopefully this will alleviate some of the chucker problems currently taking place at Penn

ugh, foot traffic to keep nettles down vs. picking up their trash...tough decision.

struggled with this at first as well, but after seeing about 6 huge groups of chuckers last couple times out, and today having to save my dog from a rabid pitbull attack on the tee at hole 6, I think I'd rather just play in long pants all summer
