Course still living?

Course still living?

This place still up and a viable place to play? I have to go to IC today, and I haven't played this baby since last year... any locals who know the demo, that would rock!

They hadn't mowed in a couple weeks as of Tuesday night. Don't know when they were going to mow it. If it's not mowed, it's not worth the time right now.

speaking of mowing...is it worth complaining a bit or would that make things worse? IC/Johnson County taxes are stupid high and ya don't get much for it...

Like Luke said, maybe we should send whoever mows a fruit basket or something

Went and played it yesterday...man I love this course. I played from the blue tees where we could, even though a couple holes that was not possible. One of the pads was buried under several feet of sand, and a different pad was BURIED in the woods and behind huge weeds, so it was basically unplayable. The course was better mowed than I can ever remember, and fun as hell. Tons of shot selections, lots of technical throws. Several great risk/reward holes. This course is a blast, a least if you are wearing pants! There is ragweed everywhere on this course, so come prepared. Mosquitoes are also a pretty big issue, but not too hard to deal with.

Overall I really like this course and I definitely plan to make more trips down to play it.[/u]

holy cow...did they mow yesterday?

I was there Wednesday and it wasn't mowed. Going after work!

and yeah, 5 blue is flooded and hasn't been cleared out and 13 blue is under sand as well. Thanks to Harper, he is the one who shoveled off 13 red so that hole can actually be played. We have been waiting on some mysterious bobcat/skidloader or something to help clear up 13 but I don't know the status of that.

Mowed? And on a Friday? Doubt it.

I think this guy probably visited the course during one of its rougher periods and it looks good by comparison.

The grass on one was prob...9 inches tall? maybe a bit more? Dunno, was very easy to find my disc, even in the back parts of the course. Especially compared to the other times I have played at Peninsula.

I found out today that the non-wooded holes at the Peninsula will be mowed once a month during the growing season. I don't yet know what that means for holes 2-10, but I've finally found out why it looks so shaggy right now. The good news is that it should get mowed again this week, weather permitting of course.

Through some freak accident of soccer scheduling, I will find myself in Iowa City this Saturday. I may or may not have time to play while in town. Can I get some confirmation of the course's condition before I attempt it?

It's still playable, but keep an eye on where your disc lands from hole 11 on. I would play the red/short pads on the back 8. Don't worry, those holes aren't short, and you'll never have a blind tee shot.

Wear pants

Love to give you a tour, but think I'm going to Waterloo. Also think it's supposed to rain. :(

I played a round and a half last night, wearing shorts, and survived. Bring your easy-to-find disc colors. Even IF some of the fairways get mowed, there will still be some really rough spots.

That's great news...I'll be out there from 4-6pm, throwing and trimming.
