the river will be dropping down to normal levels over the next week+, so im guessing even then it will still be a muddy mess

We often play from the road along 18's fairway back to 16's basket, then play 17, and then play 18 from the other tee.

As far as the river dropping, Peninsula will dry out in 24 hours after the river goes down. The only "muddy" part of the course is 5 blue which is unplayable at the moment. The rest will be fine within a day or two of the river dropping to normal levels.

And maybe we can play the course for a day or two and then ... the nettles

Time to tune up the weedwackers!

Played there last weekend. Course conditions were pretty bad still I thought.

I guess its all relative. When I was there last Sat 5/8 it looked about the best I've ever seen it during growing season (except for 5 blue). Thanks to everybody who worked to get it into such nice shape!

I'm with Ihearchains. I played the course on Saturday and Sunday. With the cold weather Saturday, there weren't any bugs out and the course was gorgeous as the entire course had been recently mowed, in the wooded holes and on the open ones. The water is also down so the holes are all playable, aside from blue tee 5. Sunday the bugs were back out, but that's to be expected for a course on the water.

This course looked the best I have seen it since there was snow on the ground. Thanks for all the work done to get it ready for this past weekend.

Just try and stay in the fairways, they are there for a reason.

Looks like #1's fairway was mowed, but not the interior. Maybe we can have another weedwhacker/mower party.

I'm down any evening with a few days notice, I would really like to play the Pen between May and September/October and the only way I see that happening is monthly weed wacker parties because the city isn't mowing the interior :(

I would not recommend playing Peninsula right now. The grass is approaching knee high in areas and the nettles are well above that in the woods in places. The city should be mowing early this week though, so keep an eye out and get your rounds in while we have a week of sun and short grass out there (assuming they mow very soon).

So the city came out an mowed The Pen.

Sort of..

The mowed 1-11 and 18. There is standing water in the fairways for 12, 13, 14, and possibly 15 and 16 but I didn't see them as we just went from 11 to a safari hole to 18. The interior was mowed by the city for the first time this year but still needs to be hit by weedwackers around all trees and in the smaller areas they couldn't go. There is also some debris from the wind storms that need to be sawed up and moved out, specifically 8's fairway and 11 blue teepad.

If the river levels remain where they are now Peninsula is probably a no go, without some temp holes, which could be done.

Hole 9 blue tee pad - big fallen tree

Postby OU812_LukeS » Thu Aug 26, 2010 12:23 pm

The inside line from #9's blue tee pad has now opened up slightly. The big tree that has blocked many a turnover shot has fallen in front of the teepad and also blocks the path to red tee.
