Online registration for the Cedar Creek Open is now available! Sign up at http://www.cedarcreekdiscgolf.com/CCOreg.html

The last few years of the Cedar Creek Open have been amazing! The players, volunteers, and sponsors have come together to make one of the best events in the midwest. Fun courses, great amenities, and HUGE payouts for both pro and ams have really set the CCO apart. Outdoing the last few years is going to be a huge task, but we are up for the challenge!

This year, the Cedar Creek Open has joined the PDGA's SuperTour as an A-tier event. The tournament will once again be a two-day event, and will also be a part of the MFA's fantastic Minnesota Summer Tour. We are thankful that the CCO continues to grow and become one of Minnesota's signature events. Read on for more specific information regarding the event.

We already have lots of added cash and prizes. This year's Open Champion will once again take home over $1000, and amateur payouts will remain huge. All Ams will also receive a nice player's pack.

Current players pack (with more being added): One CCO Tshirt, one CCO tournament stamped disc (many to choose from, both Innova and Discraft), one Innova mini, one microfiber towel, free entry into the ace pool, and free water and gatorade on the courses during all rounds.

The tentative format will be four rounds of 18-holes. Two rounds each day - one on each of our two courses. Pin placements on both courses will change between the two Saturday and Sunday. About 20 holes will change in total. It will be like playing 4 different courses.

We also hope to organize a few things for Saturday after the rounds. Not part of the tournament, just for fun (and those who haven't gotten enough disc golf). Possibly a cash skins game or some night doubles. Depends on interest. We have two courses to play on, so there is certainly no lack of room! There will also be a few skills competitions for your chance to win a bunch of cool prizes (discs, shirts, hats, bags, baskets, etc...)

Tentative Schedule of Events (Subject to Change):
• Saturday
• Player Check-In & Registration - 7:00am-9:00am
• Player Meeting - 9:30am
• First Round - 10:00am
• Second Round - 2:00pm
• Skills Competitions - ???
• Player's Party - ???

• Sunday
• Player Meeting - 8:00am
• First Round - 8:30am
• Second Round - 1:00pm
• Awards - 5:00pm

Entry Fees:
• Open Pro - $90
• Master Pro - $70
• Women Open Pro - $70
• Advanced - $60
• Master Advanced - $60
• Women Advanced - $50
• Intermediate - $50
• Recreational - $40
• Junior - $40

Pre-registration: We are doing online registration ourselves again this year, which means smaller service charges (paypal still charges a little). However, there will be an additional fee of $10 for day-of registration, so please register online. Its cheaper!! Those who don't register online can show up during the registration time above the first day of the tournament. First come, first serve. PDGA requires that all participants of A-tier events be PDGA members, so go sign up on their site before registering!

Hey everyone!

Just a heads up... Lodging in Fairmont for the Cedar Creek Open always tends to be in short supply as the tournament gets closer. There are lots of things going on in this town, and being right on the way to Sturgis, it usually fills up pretty quick if you wait too long. If you are planning on attending the Cedar Creek Open (which I very highly recommend), then you should look into lodging and preregister as soon as you can.

Places to look into:

Holiday Inn

Super 8

Comfort Inn

Hampton Inn

Budget Inn (cheap, but it shows)

Hall Lake Cabins

Flying Goose Campground

There are also campgrounds and other places to stay in nearby neighboring towns. Blue Earth, Truman, and Sherburn are all within 15 minutes of Fairmont if things get really tight.

So check into it. Get a group together, book a room, and preregister for the tournament online. Sooner than later. You'll be glad you did. Its an A-tier this year, and we have already had people register from Ohio, Texas, and Sweden. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come... register now.

Nope, no host hotel. Unfortunately none of the hotels have yet to step up and become a tournament sponsor. Just get the best deal you can find. Don't PDGA members get discounts at Super 8?

Any clue what the best deal in town is? I'm going to call within the next few days to reserve my hotel but it would help to get an idea who has decent prices.

Best price in town is Budget Inn... but its not necessarily a wonderful place to stay. I've heard some negative reviews on the cleanliness. Hah. But if you're just looking for a cheap place to sleep, its an option.

This year's AM players pack will include (but is not necessarily limited to): one Cedar Creek Open t-shirt, one Cedar Creek Open tournament stamped disc (12 innova and 12 discraft models to choose from), one Parked Pouch, one microfiber towel, one innova mini, free water on the course during rounds, free entry into ace pool, and your chance to win one (or more) of tons and tons of CTPs and card winner prizes.

In order to be guaranteed a t-shirt in your player pack (and for it to be in the size you want), you must preregister for the event before July 25. Preregistration can be done at http://www.cedarcreekdiscgolf.com/CCOreg.html

You do NOT want to miss out on this event, and you might as well maximize your player pack and save some money at the same time (day-of registration is $10 extra). So stop stalling and sign up. Ready... set... GO.

The deadline for a shirt to be guaranteed in the AM player pack is quickly approaching. Please preregister by July 25th to give me a better idea of how many shirts to order. Having a better number lets YOU get the shirt size you want and it lets ME order an appropriate amount of shirts and save money that will be kept in the prize pool. Hooray!

Other interesting updates…

1) Recent payout history listed at http://www.cedarcreekdiscgolf.com/payouts.html for those who need further convincing. Payouts this year will likely be even bigger.

2) Advanced winner will get a Mach 3 basket in addition to regular funny money!

3) Open winner is guaranteed $1000 and will go up from there based on the field size.

4) This week we confirmed that we will have over 900 combined bottles of water and Gatorade donated from sponsors to keep our disc golfers hydrated over the weekend. Free on the courses for players all weekend.

5) We will be having a player party at Tami’s On the Ave on Saturday night!!

6) For those interested in making the tournament even better, I’ve added a way to become an event sponsor here! http://www.cedarcreekdiscgolf.com/CCOsponsorship.html. It’s a great way to get your name out to disc golfers and become a part of a great event. Please consider it!

If you have questions, email me at cedarcreekdiscgolf@gmail.com and more importantly preregister at http://www.cedarcreekdiscgolf.com/CCOreg.html ASAP!!!

Any changes from the last couple of years as far as the courses go? Similar layouts? Always look forward to playing this one.

Similar layouts. Four rounds. One round on each course each day. Day 1 is short East and long West. Day 2 is long East and short West. There will be a couple fun new things this year. A couple temp holes on the East course, and a few elevated baskets.

Look forward to seeing you out there!
