Honor Flight Open Aug 1st 2010- Prospect Park Charity Event

Postby Chase20460 » Fri Jul 09, 2010 2:03 pm

The 1st HONOR FLIGHT OPEN is a charity/fundraising event Iron Lion is partcipating in to raise money for the HONOR FLIGHT.

http://www.honorflightqc.com/

We have been working with KUUL FM, at thier request, to help build a casual, festive disc golf event of a more charitable nature. The morning guys at KUUL were all about getting into the disc golf scene and want to promote the event and help us get more mainstream. After telling them what a great group of supporters we have for all types of causes ( EDGE, Boys and Girls Club, Clinics, ect. ) the Honor Flight idea seemed like a great fit!

http://www.thekuulmorningguys.com/main.html

Things are going to be pretty basic, as we are all coming together on this for a fun, worthwhile event. It will be one (1) round at Prospect with a catered lunch provided with entry fee, and we are hoping for lots of prizes for a raffle and CTPs. Come show support for the great people who fought for our freedom!

HONOR FLIGHT OPEN:

1 round of 18 holes at Prospect Park, Moline IL
(Upper Shelter/Ball field area by hole 10. )

All AMs: $15.00 ( includes lunch )
All Pros: $25.00 ( includes lunch )

Am entry will be donated to the Honor Flight fund. CTP prizes will be available, along with other games for the am based divisions.

A [portion of the Pro entry fee will also be donated to Honor Flight fund.

We are planning on a 11 am-1 pm flex start Tee Time, with the event wrapping up around 4 pm. You can choose who you would like to play with or will be assigned a group. This is a fun event we encourage all to attend, especially Iron Lion Team Members. KUUL FM has talked about doing widespread advertising for this event and may even broadcast live , and also have been working with Active 8. Its a good thing for disc golf and it supports a heroic charity!

We hope to see you there!

As always, we are accepting prizes of all sorts for donation. We expect to have several non-disc golf related sponsors, so gift cards or about anything is acceptable, and appreciated.

I saw Whitey's is providing Sgt. Camo ice cream for players, that stuff is awesome. The place providing food, Sheridans, is supposed to be pretty good as well, Im told!

I will do my very best to be there in some capacity. The annual Fat Tire Birthday party is the night before. Any chance of a Superclass division?

In response to PMs and Emails:

Day of sign up will be fine. We are running a flex start, between 11-1 PM, so the course should be able to hold plenty of people.

One of the goals is to have CTPs on every hole for the Ams. We are to 7 holes so far, and think this is an easy mark to hit! Thanks to those that donated discs so far!

Mark & Steve's Honor Flight Open - POSTPONED!!
Our first annual Honor Flight Open, scheduled for Sunday, August 1, 2010, at Prospect Park in Moline, has been postponed. Basically, the response was so huge that we have to find a bigger better park to stage it in!

So...what's going on?

It may still go off at Prospect, but it was postponed. I dont think they realized what they would be dealing with. I have a meeting with them tomorrow, so Ill post the results.

SEPTEMBER 12!

...is the rescheduled date for the 1st Annual Honor Flight Open! We are also looking at Eastern Avenue for this event. It can hold more players, offers a more beginner friendly layout and we think the sponsors will grow with the change.

This is the day after Discin For Dogs, so lets make it a grand weekend for disc golf charity!

More info to come, look for the radio spots to start poppin off again soon! The KUUL FM guys are totally pumped up for this!

Yeah, Eastern ( although Im not 100% positive Prospect is out of the mix ) does offer alot more in terms of parking and overall space, when you consider the room behind 11s tee and the equiptment area by 18. Most of Prospects shelters are rented for the season, and without at least one, parking can get bad there..

Eastern is also the most popular course in the QCs, as far as recreational traffic goes. Camden is close, and was also talked about.
