Last year's Cedar Creek Open had great weather, great turnout, huge payouts, and tons of fun. Last year's pro winner Cale Leiviska took home $1000, and the payouts did not drop off after that. Over $2400 was split between the top four players alone. The amateurs got hooked up too!! Advanced winner Adam Sternke took home over $350 in prizes, and each of the top five received over $100 in prizes. The top three in the intermediate division also topped $100, and all amateur divisions paid out 50% of the participants.

This year, we're back and better than ever. We are once again a two-day PDGA B-tier event, as well as part of the MFA's Minnesota Summer Tour. The Cedar Creek Open continues to grow and become one of Minnesota's signature events. Read on for more information.

We already have lots of added cash and prizes. This year's Open Champion will again take home $1000, and amateur payouts will remain huge. All Ams will also receive a nice player's pack.

Current players pack (with more being added): One Cedar Creek Open tournament stamped disc (many to choose from, both Innova and Discraft), one Innova mini, one microfiber towel, free entry into the ace pool, and free water and gatorade on the courses during all rounds.

Format will be four rounds of 18-holes. Two rounds each day - one on each of our two courses. Pin placements on both courses will change between the two Saturday and Sunday. About 20 holes will change in total. It will be like playing 4 different courses.

We also hope to organize a few things for Saturday after the rounds. Not part of the tournament, just for fun (and those who haven't gotten enough disc golf). Possibly a cash skins game or some night doubles. Depends on interest. We have two courses to play on, so there is certainly no lack of room.

Despite our success over the last couple years, there are still quite a few people who don't know what they are missing at this tournament. In an effort to get the word out, and continue to grow this tournament into one of Minnesota's premiere events, over the next few weeks I'm going to share a few facts about the Cedar Creek Open that you might not know.

Cedar Creek Open - Fun Fact #1 - Huge Payouts!

The Cedar Creek Open has prided itself on its payouts. We raise lots of added cash, and give everything possible to the players. We raised over $3000 of added cash last year, and are on pace for more than that this year. And that doesn't even include the players packs, the CTPs, and all the other free stuff!! Here is a list of last year's payouts...

Open (field of 16):
1st - $1065
2nd - $650
3rd - $450

T9th - $50
T9th - $50
T11th - $45

T9th - $45
12th - $40
T13th - $30
T13th - $30
T15th - $20
T15th - $20

Advanced Women (field of 2):
1st - $150
2nd - $30

I will spare you all of the calculations, but based on the PDGA tournament report (which takes into account payouts, CTPs, and players packs versus entry fees) that comes out to 335% payout for Pros and 263% payout for Ams. Needless to say, that payouts are fat! Come join us at the Cedar Creek Open and get a piece of it for yourself!

The Cedar Creek Open in Fairmont, MN is quickly approaching. For more information and preregistration, please check out http://www.cedarcreekdiscgolf.com/

Cedar Creek Open - Fun Fact #2 - Nice Player Packs & Prizes!

Current player packs included:
1) Cedar Creek Open tournament stamped disc
2) Microfiber towel
3) Mini marker
4) Ace pool included
5) All CTPs included
6) Free water and Powerade on the course

Free water and Powerade: We are keeping this tradition going strong. We will have free water and powerade available to all players while they are out on the courses. We will have a few stations around the courses both days where you can grab a bottle of water or powerade. This has worked out wonderfully the last couple year. There has been plenty to go around and the players love it.

CTP Prizes: We have a ton of CTPs ready to go, including shirts, discs, towels, and some other premium goodies. We are aiming to have a CTP on every hole of the weekend, but that is a tall order. We'll see how many sponsors are willing to step up and give us some more stuff. But in any case, I think we have enough for two full rounds right now. Maybe CTPs on every hole during our rounds on Cedar Creek East?

CCO Tournament Stamped Discs: We have both Innova and Discraft this year. We have 16 different models to choose from. For Innova we have: Star Boss, Star Mako, Echo Star Destroyer, Echo Star Excaliber, Champion Wraith, Champion Roadrunner, KC Pro Roc, DX Avair. For Discraft we have: CryZtal Buzzz, CryZtal Stalker, ESP Nuke, ESP Meteor, Z Predator, Z Buzzz, D Magnet, D Focus.

In addition to this, we have a fundraiser going with our tournament stamped discs. If you buy one of our CCO discs in the time leading up to the tournament, you will be entered into a drawing for a $400 Chainstar basket. Each disc you buy gives you an entry, so buy a few and increase your chances even more! Last year's winner was Ted Haaf.

Finally, we have a few other sweet prizes that I'm still trying to figure out what to do with (or how to give away). One thing that we will definitely do is a putting contest for a Disc Catcher Traveler.

We may also try to set up doubles round for some side action on Saturday night, or a possible glow round. Depends on interest!

In any case, aside from huge payouts (see Fun Fact #1) there are also tons of other great free stuff and prizes. Hope to see you all there!!
