King of the Courses- 2010 - Schedule v1

Postby Chase20460 » Sun Feb 28, 2010 8:41 pm

Greetings! This is the first edition schedule for 2010 King of the Courses. It is subject to change and start times. There may also be days cancelled due to weather. Make-up dates will be the following Wednesday. March and April start times will be 5 PM. May and on will be at 5:30 PM.

Cost will be $10 for all divisions. $1 of each entry will be pulled for the end of the year tourney, which will be held on the private Matzen Lake temp course with a very limited field. You must attend at least 1 King of the Courses events to be placed on the invite list, and if spots start to run out, it will go to a how many events attended situation. I dont think that will happen, just throwing it out there.

All are welcomed and encouraged to attend. There will be another thread for this in the Iron Lion section here :

March 10th is looking like a muddy and sloppy day according to the weather. Here's to hoping it won't be!
I play the game, but I don't keep score. I can't win or lose.

Daylight and weather could be an early factor. There are dates left open for a reason, and its possible this could be the first to get pushed back. I dont think it will be as bad as everyone else, so we will play this one by ear.

We do set the clocks forward before the first round so it will still be playable by 7:15

Is that what the intermediate winner gets? Thought that was advanced.

Ive attracted some concern from someone that both of these in the same week is going to ruin Middle for the year.Im not out to tear up the course so I may cancel this. Sorry, please stay tuned.

I think that's a good call, Chase. Very responsible.

All courses are very vulnerable to damage right now.

how many people are you expecting for KOC? 30 - 40? playing one round

And how many people are gonna play dubs? 50-60? playing two rounds

I dont think the traffic from one round of KOC is gonna make one bit of difference compared to the two rounds of the doubles event. Middle is always wet, ALWAYS! except for maybe two weeks in the middle of august.

The traffic from these two events will tear up the course a bit, sure, but for the rest of the year? Come on, really? Thats the beauty of multiple pin placements, when one area gets beat up then move the pin to a different location. This would work really good at C2, because you could beat up different areas of rough and make it easier to find errant shots. it would also give greens time to heal. If only we had multiple pin placements there......COUGHspragueCOUGH

Bottom line, if you dont want to tear up any course, then dont hold any organized event on any course until some time in June.

So where is your stance than Evan? Are you suggesting I run King and cancel/postpone the Doubles?

Also, I think those are pretty high numbers on both events.

Bottom line, King of Courses can be cancelled without much problem, the doubles tourney isnt sanctioned and can be postponed, but probably wont be run again, as I choose this date in December or something for a reason. Im going to go out to the ocurse Saturday and Monday to check it out. If it looks like play there will be an issue, Ill cancel Wednesdays round.

IMO, all courses get beat up in spring. Courses here and everywhere, and it will be that way until May. We will get 2 strong weeks of weather and everything will be back to normal. I dont see why this year would be any different than the last 10.
