QCDGC Ice Bowl

Tournaments in the rest of the non Iowa world

Postby batlord » Thu Feb 01, 2007 10:49 am

So are there flyers up for this event anywhere, or are we just expecting the 15 guys that read the forum to show up and then complain that no one shows up to these events? I haven't seen any flyers at eastern or middle, nor a pdf of the flyer to hand out to local players.

I might be wrong and there are flyers plastered everywhere, but I haven't seen any, nor read about it in any of the local papers of the river cities reader.

I'm not trying to bust anyone's ballz here, just expressing concern over something simple as advertising.

Flyers

Postby Golfguy » Thu Feb 01, 2007 11:22 am

There are 15 people reading this stuff? j.k.

...No flyers...

Guess we are relying on word of mouth ( mentioned at last two meetings ) and the IowaDG forum.

This is a low-key event...unless someone wanted something else...if they want something else they should speakup quickly.

yes, no flyers, but if 15 people showup in 5 degree weather and we get 6 cans of food...it is a success...

You are correct...more advertising = more attendance...for the most part.

drink what you will.... just stay warm, and learn how to treat frostbite before you get it.

Just a reminder that sign ups start at 10:00am (please register at the white Durango) and players meeting is at 11:00. If there are any of you that are crazy enough to play in this weather please dress for the weather. I have personally had frostbite on 3 fingers and it is nothing that you want to get. I can't stress enough to please dress warm and if it gets too cold, just quit!! Disc golf is not worth your health. I will be running around the course with hot chocolate and a four wheeler to try to get people warmed up.

sounds like somebody's forgetting the Ice Bowl motto. Sack up sallies, we played two rounds here last weekend for our IB, with about 6 inches of snow, and 7 degree weather. Did I mention the turnout was 80some?

NO WIMPS, NO WHINERS!!!!

have fun, wish I could be there.

no, I did too till about 3 years ago. I'd just have expected your post to be something like:

Get out here tomorrow all you pussies that think it's too cold. I work outside for a living, it ain't that bad!

Something like that....like I said, wish I could be there tomorrow, first QC Ice Bowl I'll miss since '99. :(
